Breastfeeding Education Session

Successful breastfeeding happens when the mother and father to be are given the correct information about breastfeeding. Being prepared and having an understanding of how the mother and baby work together to breastfeed is so important. These sessions cover;

  • Breastfeeding techniques including positioning and attaching to the breast,

  • Newborn behaviour. Crying and settling techniques

  • Newborn breastfeeding patterns. What is normal? Is your baby getting enough milk? What can you expect in those first few weeks?

  • This session is fantastic for feeling prepared to breastfeed your baby right from birth.

  • Have your questions answered by a Registered Midwife

Home with a Baby Breastfeeding Support

Many new mums arrive home with their new baby and although determined to breastfeed, sometimes challenges arise.

These sessions focus on how you can deal with these challenges and prevent breastfeeding stress. This session covers;

  • Painful breastfeeding

  • Nipple trauma

  • Engorged breasts

  • Mastitis prevention and treatment advice

  • Expressing

  • Feeding patterns

  • Is your baby getting enough milk?

  • General support

  • A friendly chat about your new challenges. Being a new mum is daunting!

 As always, the correct information from a professional sooner rather than later will get you and your baby onto the right path. breastfeeding is a learned skill, though natural. Its completely ok to ask for support and have your questions answered! Being a new mum can be tough. This session is supported with empathy, understanding and of course referral as needed.

Upon request face to face consultations are available for this session. Remember that getting breastfeeding correct early on, can prevent the occurrence of breastfeeding challenges. This increases the likelihood of successful breastfeeding for the first 6 months and beyond!

Home with a Baby General Support Sessions

Do you need some support through this huge transition in your life? That’s completely ok. Every new baby is a change of life baby (as my mum used to say)!

These sessions are offered face to face upon request. or as an online private session. This covers any post natal question or challenge you may have. It doesn’t only focus on breastfeeding.

  • Formula feeding,

  • Sterilising,

  • Settling techniques,

  • Bathing advice or instruction,

  • Cord care

  • Maternal post natal support

  • Chat and debrief with a caring midwife about the birth , how you feel, or any other postnatal questions.

  • Support and referral to other health professionals if required.

Newborn and Childhood Illness Recognition Class

As a Registered Nurse with experience in an acute care emergency ward, I have been especially trained in triage and recognising acute illness across all ages.

Knowing what is normal in your baby and children can provide some comfort. None of us want our children to be unwell, though it is always good to be prepared for the reality. This session provides information about recognising unwell symptoms in your child, normal healthy behaviour, What is a temperature? What is a normal temperature? When do you give paracetamol? Advice on when to see a Medical Dr., Advice on when to call an ambulance, Choking management, Febrile convulsion management, current CPR advice
