At Village Midwifery, the focus is on preparing and supporting you through this amazing chapter of your life; Home with your baby and breastfeeding. A new world full of wonder, anticipation and change!

Remember....it takes a village to raise a child and a village to support a new mum just as she needs!

As a Registered Nurse, Midwife and mother of three boys, I am very passionate about the importance of support and guidance for mums and dads during for the post natal period. I believe that the most important form of support is providing correct education and advice to parents that is professional, caring and understanding.

Our sessions cover

  • 'Breastfeeding Preparation' (Because although breastfeeding is natural...it's still a learned skill!) -This is ideal to complete before the birth of your baby

  • Home with a baby breastfeeding support - For when you are at home with your baby and have breastfeeding challenges and questions on how to manage them

  • Home with a baby, general support sessions - For when you are at home with your baby and would like guidance on post natal care such as formula feeding, cord care, bathing, maternal care

  • Recognition of illness sessions - Prepare for what may come. This is ideal to complete any time. Covers from newborn to 12 years old. (Though this information is relevant for all stages of life).

All sessions are provided online or face to face upon request. Give the gift of support. Ideal baby shower gift!

Every mum and dad wants to do the best for their baby and this begins by empowering yourself with as much knowledge and skills as possible right from the very beginning. Because a fantastic beginning for a baby and mum will follow them through their lifetime!

My Story

As the founder of Village Midwifery, I have dedicated my professional life to educating not only nursing and Midwifery students, but the new mums, dads and families during the baby stages. I am a Registered Midwife and Registered Nurse and also an Associate Lecturer in Nursing and Midwifery at an Australian University. Most importantly, I am a mother of three beautiful boys . My profession informed me of the science of breastfeeding, newborn and maternal midwifery care, though my journey as a mum, made me love it! This love came from breastfeeding my babies and nurturing them. This nurturing was not only through nutrition, but through skin to skin and that deep mother-child bond that feeds your soul. My wish is that all mothers can experience this!

I have worked in Australia and the UK as a Registered Nurse and Midwife. My professional journey led me to remote areas in the world such as Santrokofe Bume in Ghana, Africa. Here I volunteered my time and expertise in health clinics within the the small villages and communities. My husband and I provided education to the villagers and the schools on hygiene, sanitation and we set up and provided health insurance for all children within the Santrokofe Bume village. A much needed and well received gesture. I have provided care for birthing woman with little 'modern' tools, access or assistance. True tribal birthing. I am honoured to have been introduced to different cultural experiences of women and their babies. This has taught me a great deal about the power of women, family and the village!

My mission is to share my knowledge and passion with new parents whether its the first or 5th baby....I know the right guidance and support is worth gold.

Post birth (or post partum) can be a very difficult (as well as very exciting!) time for any woman and their family. It is crucial that every woman can accesses realistic and trustworthy information and support. Village Midwifery is here to do just that!
